What happens at the tasting

Two hours, five chapters,
one long table.

No headsets. No clipboards. Just a cheesemonger, a long wooden table, and food we're a little too excited about. Here's exactly how it unfolds.

  1. 01
    Walk in

    Discover the cellar.

A cosy, candle-lit room with bare stone walls, tucked away in the heart of Montmartre. Cool in summer, warm in winter, always smelling faintly of cheese and old oak.

"Such a great vibe in the room.— S. T.
  2. 02
    Meet your host

    Max, Raphaela or Doriane.

One of the three of us hosts every session — a real cheesemonger or sommelière, never a guide reading from a script. Small group, max 12 around the table, like a friend's dinner party.

"She just felt like another one of our friends.— Sarah C.
  3. 03
    Taste

    8 cheeses · 5 wines.

Eight raw-milk cheeses from across France and five wines chosen to introduce you to typical French grape varieties, new regions, and styles you might not have tried before. We taste slowly, talk pairings, history, process. By glass three the rules click into place.

"Generous glasses of high-quality wine and large portions of cheese.— Eve J.
  4. 04
    Connect

    Strangers from everywhere.

Honeymooners next to retired truckers next to a solo traveller from Seoul. The small group makes it easy — by glass two everyone's swapping recommendations and arguing over the Comté.

"Great for making new friends with your fellow tasters.— Brelynn B.
  5. 05
    Walk out

Two hours later — and a little plan for the rest of Paris.

Before you leave, we hand over our personal little black book of Paris and Montmartre — bars, restaurants, bakeries, the bench with the best Sacré-Cœur view. Same way we'd send our own friends out into the city.

"Max has great bar and restaurant recommendations around Paris.— Regan M.

Our experience with Doriane was the best! We had booked for a large group of girls, and she just felt like another one of our friends. The cheeses were perfectly paired with the wines, and Doriane had a story for every wine and cheese.

Such a great selection and portions of wine and cheese — 8 cheeses, 5 wines. Definitely get your money's worth. Raphaela was so sweet and informative. The small group atmosphere is great for making new friends with your fellow tasters.

Before attending this tasting I thought I disliked wine. After this experience, I realise how wrong I was. Max was friendly, funny and knowledgeable — I left feeling educated about cheese and wine and was overall very impressed.

If you're looking for a tasting that is as generous as it is fun, this is the place. We had a blast — the vibe was incredibly lighthearted and full of laughs. Great stories, plenty of cheese and even more wine. An absolute standout.

Every cheese and wine we tasted had a story, and Max brought each one to life in a way that was engaging and easy to understand. It truly felt like discovering the holy grail of French cheese and wine.

This turned me into a wine snob and I get most frustrated with not being able to find these delicious wines and cheeses back in the US. Max was very knowledgeable and provided great visuals as he took us on a tour of the taste of France.

I did this experience solo and still had a lot of fun and met some new people. Max is so friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. I would do this again the next time I'm in Paris. 10/10 experience.

Wine & cheese tasting in Paris — good to know.

Everything you might want to know before booking. Anything missing? Drop me a message on Instagram or send me an email — I read everything.

A guided tasting of 8 carefully selected French cheeses and 5 French wines — including one sparkling wine. Throughout the session, we share stories, tasting tips, and simple pairing logic. Small-group format, fully interactive, designed for all levels.

At 98 Rue Marcadet, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris — the heart of Montmartre. A cozy stone-walled room. Easy to reach by metro (Jules Joffrin, line 12).

Our wine and cheese tasting in Paris lasts 2 hours — the right amount of time to go through each of the 8 raw-milk French cheeses and 5 carefully selected French wines without rushing. We taste every cheese individually: its origin, its AOC terroir, its texture and rind, and how it evolves on the palate. Each wine is introduced with its region, grape variety, and winemaker's story before we explore the pairing. By the end of the session, you'll have tasted your way across France — from Normandy to the Alps, from the Loire Valley to Burgundy — and left with a real understanding of why French cheese and wine belong together.

Yes — the entire tasting is hosted in English.

Not at all — and equally rewarding if you are. Our wine and cheese tasting in Paris is designed for curious beginners, food lovers, and seasoned connoisseurs alike. Beginners discover French cheeses and wines from scratch, with no intimidating vocabulary and no snobbery. Connoisseurs go deeper: AOC terroir, raw-milk production, natural winemaking, regional grape varieties. We read the room and adapt to every level — that's one of the reasons the experience works so well for mixed groups.

Limited to 12 guests maximum. Small-group format keeps everything relaxed and conversational.

69€ per person. Booking direct means the world to us — it lets us keep running this experience our own way, without giving a big cut to third-party platforms. As a thank-you, every direct booking comes with 1 free bottle of wine (~€15–20 value) — not per guest, per booking. Groups of 6 or more get 2 bottles. From Max's personal selection, handed to you at the end of the tasting, available on direct bookings only. For private groups and corporate events, custom pricing — contact us for a quote.

Yes, in most cases. Let us know when booking and we'll adapt. Non-drinkers are welcome — we'll provide an organic juice to pair with the cheeses.

Yes — children are welcome. They'll have an organic juice alongside the cheeses.

Yes. After the session, you can purchase wines directly from us at the tasting room. We also ship worldwide — so if you fall in love with a bottle, you can have more sent home.

A restaurant serves food — this tasting teaches you how to taste. You'll understand pairings, discover French regions, leave with stories and knowledge.

Book directly on this page — it includes a free bottle of wine from Max's personal selection. We also appear on GetYourGuide, Viator, and Airbnb Experiences.

Absolutely. Solo travelers are some of our most enthusiastic guests. Small-group format makes it easy to meet people.

An actual cheesemonger or trained sommelière hosts every session. The group is tiny (max 12). Everything is in English, relaxed, built around curiosity.
